Karl Lubomirski

Karl Lubomirski (born September 8, 1939 Hall in Tirol ) is a writer from Austria. He published v. a. Poetry, travel reports, short stories as well as literary and art reviews.

Life

Lubomirski grew up in Innsbruck and was trained as a businessman. He has lived in Italy since 1962 , today in Brugherio near Milan . From 1973 to 2019 he published 13 volumes of poetry in German. Despite his long stay in Italy, his poetic language remained German, and he translated his own poems into Italian together with native speakers. On the other hand, he translated poems and prose from Italian into German (for example by the painter and poet Paolo Frosecchi and by Salvatore Fiume and Luca Vernizzi ).

Karl Lubomirski is at home in two countries, his life and experiences made him a committed European, global citizen and bridge builder. He read in all countries of Europe and u. a. in the USA, Russia, Japan, South America from his poetry books, which have been translated into numerous languages. He is the recipient of high honors and a member of the Accademia del Mediterraneo in Rome, the Austrian PEN Club and the Austrian Writers' Association as well as the Humboldt Society . From 1987 to 1997 he was President of the Liechtenstein PEN Club , in which he a. a. tried to attract younger colleagues as a juror for the "Liechtenstein Prize"

His papers have been in the Brenner Archive Research Institute at the University of Innsbruck since 2014 . A publication from 2019 contains a selection of his poetry and prose, some of which come from Vorlass, an introduction to his literary work and activities, his method of working and poetology as well as a selection of a bibliography of literary publications and secondary literature, as well as one CV. The bequest contains extensive correspondence and testifies to the contact u. a. to well-known and notable personalities from literature and art.
