Karl Ludwig (Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym)
Karl Ludwig von Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym (born May 16, 1723 in Schaumburg ; † August 20, 1806 there ) was the third Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg- Schaumburg-Hoym and a Dutch general.
Life
Karl Ludwig was the eldest son of Prince Viktor I of Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym (1693–1772) from his first marriage to Charlotte Luise (1680–1739), daughter of Count Wilhelm Moritz zu Isenburg and Büdingen in Birstein .
He entered the Dutch military service at a very young age and was stationed in Stevensweert , where he met the daughter of a place major, Benjamine Gertrud Keizer (1729–1787). Without parental permission, he secretly married her on the night of March 25th to 26th, 1748. Since the pastor had actually acted criminally, a letter in French from Prince Viktor I, who had recently been a guest of the Keisers, was presented to him which he did not understand and informed him that this was the father's consent to marry. The marriage quickly turned out to be unhappy and Karl Ludwig left his wife in 1749. There were several lawsuits, as a result of which the marriage in 1757 was annulled. In the Dutch military service, Karl Ludwig became lieutenant general of the infantry and commandant of Tiel . He held the position of Commander of the Teutonic Order of Rhenen.
Karl Ludwig followed his father in 1772 as Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym and was later in imperial military service.

Karl Ludwig had a daughter from his first marriage to Benjamin Gertrud Kaiser (1729–1787):

The prince married in Braunfels on December 12th, 1765 with Eleonore (1734-1811), daughter of Prince Friedrich Wilhelm zu Solms-Braunfels , with whom he had the following children:
