Carl Mengewein
Carl Mengewein (born September 9, 1852 in Zaunröden ( Thuringia ), † April 7, 1908 in Groß-Lichterfelde near Berlin ) was a German composer.
He studied music in Mühlhausen / Thuringia and Göttingen .
From 1874 he was a teacher at the Freudenberg Conservatory in Wiesbaden , after 1881 he was also the conductor of the Liederkranz men's choir and of the spiritual music club he founded . In 1886 he moved to Berlin . In 1890 he founded the oratorio club here , which he subsequently also directed. In 1892 he finally became the conductor of the traditional men's choir Lieder-Verein Berlin 1829 . From 1897 he was the founder and director of the Berlin Concert Association Madrigal , whose members were recruited from the choir of the Twelve Apostles Church (Berlin) , which Mengewein had directed since 1893 .
