Karl Petri
Karl Petri (born May 30, 1913 in Neunkirchen (Saar) ; † September 6, 1983 ) was a German politician of the SPS and the SPD .
Petri, of an apprenticeship as fitter and plumber graduated, joined the SPD 1,932th After the Saar referendum in January 1935, he emigrated to France . He was arrested in 1941 and interned in Sachsenhausen concentration camp until 1943 , after which he was deployed as a member of the 999 Penal Battalion in the Balkans . In 1945 he became an American prisoner of war before he returned to Neunkirchen and joined the Saarland Social Democratic Party (SPS). From 1949 on, he was a member of the local city council for many yearson. In addition, he was also a member of the board of the Association of Socialist Youth in Saarland . In 1952 he left the SPS and moved to the SPD. In 1960 he was elected to the Saarland state parliament , and by re-election five years later he was a member of the state parliament until 1970.
