Karl Pospischil

Karl Pospischil (born January 26, 1926 in Neuda ; † July 8, 2001 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and district manager of the Lower Austrian Regional Health Insurance Fund . He was a member of the Federal Council from 1969 to 1970 and a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1970 to 1987 .

education and profession

After compulsory schooling in Pöchlarn, Pospischil learned the trade of metal aircraft builder from 1941 to 1943 and attended the vocational school in Wiener Neustadt . During the Second World War he did two years of military service and spent a year in British captivity. In 1946 he became district manager of the Lower Austrian regional health insurance fund for the Melk district in Pöchlarn and held this position until 1987.

politics

From 1955 to 1960 Pospischil was a member of the municipal council of the market town of Golling an der Erlauf and from 1960 to 1982 took over the function of mayor in the market town. He represented the SPÖ Lower Austria from November 20, 1969 to November 5, 1970 in the Federal Council and was then from November 19, 1970 to November 30, 1987 a member of the Lower Austrian Landtag, where he assumed the function of 2. President of the Landtag.

Within the party, Pospischil had already been involved as district chairman of the Socialist Youth Melk from 1948 to 1953 , after which he was local party chairman of the SPÖ Golling an der Erlauf from 1953 to 1969 and then district party chairman of the SPÖ Melk. He was also a member of the state party executive committee of the SPÖ Lower Austria, a member of the state party presidium and a member of the college of the district school council of Melk.
