Karl Quarck
Karl Quarck (born August 8, 1869 in Rudolstadt , † December 23, 1949 in Dresden ) was a German landscape painter.
Career
Quarck was born the youngest of five children. After the death of his father he received his brother Max, who was nine years older, as guardian. After an apprenticeship as a decorative painter, Karl Quarck studied at the arts and crafts school in Leipzig . He was called to military service in Dresden.
From 1894 to 1899 Quarck studied at the Royal Art Academy in Dresden , where he became a master student of Friedrich Preller the Younger . He owed his master the first order for a wall painting for the Villa Wolfrum in Aussig , Na schodech 1601/10. This connection to Carl Friedrich Wolfrum resulted in a long-term friendship, so that Karl Quarck was a guest there for many weeks each year. After that he mainly dealt with landscape painting.
Karl Quarck was temporarily chairman of the German Association of Artists in Dresden.
