Karl Schönherr (sculptor)

Karl Schönherr (born May 30, 1925 in Dresden ; † May 31, 1981 in Dresden) was a German sculptor .

Life

Karl Schönherr completed an apprenticeship as an artformer from 1939 to 1942 and practiced this profession from 1942 to 1945 in Dresden. After the war he took part in an evening course at the Dresden University of Fine Arts . He then completed a degree at the Dresden University of Fine Arts and was a student of Fritz Koelle and Walter Arnold . He completed his studies with a diploma. From 1965 he worked as a freelancer in Dresden, where he died in 1981. Schönherr was buried in the St. Pauli cemetery in Dresden.

  • 1971 (?): Bronze figure satyr group , Schweizer Strasse, Dresden-Südvorstadt
  • 1977: Fountain Zittauer Marktweiber in Zittau
  • Figure group Two mothers with children , originally on Prager Strasse in Dresden, now in the Lapidarium Dresden
  • 1977: Plastic table deck dich , Prager Strasse, Dresden
  • 1978: Figure coffee aunts , private collection
  • 1979: Sculpture "Father with Children" on Sidonienstraße in Dresden
  • 1980: Figure Kaffeetanten , second cast, two hundredweight heavy, bought by the city of Cottbus in 1988, stored in the town hall cellar, stolen in February 1998 and returned after a complaint
  • 1986: Märchenbrunnen in Dresden-Gorbitz (completed by Egmar Ponndorf )
