Karl Schweisfurth (born July 15, 1959 in Munich ) is a German entrepreneur in the field of organic food.

Career

Karl Schweisfurth is the son of Karl Ludwig Schweisfurth and the twin brother of Georg Schweisfurth . His father was the owner of the meat products company Herta . He followed many developments early on and worked as a student in the company. However, as a young adult, he rejected the size of the company and did not want to keep it going.

From 1979 to 1981, after graduating from high school, he did an agricultural apprenticeship on a family farm in Landstuhl in Rhineland-Palatinate and on the Limburger Hof, BASF's experimental farm in Ludwigshafen. From 1981 to 1987 he studied agricultural sciences with a focus on crop production and agricultural history at the University of Hohenheim .

At the same time, Schweisfurth studied pedagogy with the aim of building an agriculturally oriented school or a country school home with his wife, who is a grammar school teacher for German and history. Then came his father's request to help him set up and further develop the Herrmannsdorfer Landwerkstätten in Glonn , which he founded after selling the Herta company in 1986.

From 1994 to 1996 he studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, accompanied by assistant management in various food companies such as Tegut in Fulda, Stastnik near Vienna, Söbbeke dairy, Gronau and others.

In 1996 he took over the management of the Herrmannsdorfer Landwerkstätten. The company was still in the development phase and had to ensure profitability.
