Karl Seifried

Karl Seifried (born October 15, 1914 in Heldenbergen ; † January 2010 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German entrepreneur. He founded the travel agency Ameropa-Reisen .

Life

Seifried began an apprenticeship as a plumber in Frankfurt in 1928, then went to the Air Force and became a test pilot . In 1948 he moved from Heldenbergen to Frankfurt am Main. After the Second World War he took construction workers from Upper Hesse to the Rhein-Main Air Base in an old bus . He also used this bus for recreational trips. With this he laid the foundation stone for his travel company, which he named in 1952 according to the motto “Americans visit Europe” (Ameropa). As early as 1953, he was one of the first to offer a holiday on Mallorca . There were also holiday offers in Austria and Switzerland .

In 1973 he sold his company shares to Bahn and continued to work as managing director until 1982 .

Karl Seifried and his wife Else founded four foundations, three of them in Frankfurt, specifically for the benefit of the German Child Protection Association - District Association Frankfurt, the Clementinen Hospital , the Goethe University and for the benefit of his home town of Nidderau , which, according to his wishes, children and Supports dementia sufferers .
