Karl Sigmund Friedrich Wilhelm Leutrum von Ertingen (born June 27, 1692 , † May 16, 1755 in Cuneo ) was a German general in Sardinian service.

Life

Karl Sigmund Friedrich Wilhelm Freiherr Leutrum von Ertingen was born on June 27, 1692 as the son of Freiherr Friedrich Christoph Leutrum von Ertingen, a senior forest master from Baden-Durlach . He stayed on his father's estate until he was 14 years old. In 1706, Karl Sigmund and his half-brother moved to the Kingdom of Sardinia ( Piedmont ) to pursue a military career in the wake of Prince Eugene of Savoy . Subsequently he distinguished himself as a company commander, then as a general of the infantry in the War of the Austrian Succession , for example in 1743 in the battle of Camposanto and in the defense of the fortress of Cuneo. In 1744 he was appointed governor of Cuneo, against the Marquis of Las Minas, through clever maneuvers against the generals Mirepoix and Jean-Baptiste Desmarets , the conquest of Asti (1745) and Valenza (1746). In 1747 he became regiment owner of the German infantry regiment Burgsdorff. He died on May 16, 1755 in Cuneo.
