Karl Vanselow (forest scientist)

Karl Vanselow (born October 17, 1879 in Berching , Bavaria , † June 7, 1969 ) was a German forest scientist.

Life

After graduating from high school, Vanselow studied at the Aschaffenburg Forestry University . In 1899 he became active in the Corps Hubertia . The Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg received his doctorate in 1909. After he had completed his habilitation , he became a professor for forestry production at the Hessian Ludwig University of Giessen . He held this professorship until 1934 and was replaced by Eduard Zentgraf in 1936 . In 1931 he was rector of the Ludwig University. During his teaching activity in Giessen he was, among other things, the doctoral supervisor of Rudolf Müller , a specialist in poplars . He was Dr. phil., Dr. oec. publ. and Dr. rer. nat. hc In 1934 he went to the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg as a professor for silviculture . Most recently, he was appointed professor for forest management and biological yield science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1937 . There he was in 1950 emeritus . He dealt particularly with silviculture , biological yield theory and forest history .
