Karl Vollrath

Karl Vollrath (born April 16, 1857 in Templin , † October 20, 1915 in Berlin ) was a journalist and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Vollrath attended high school in Prenzlau until 1877 and then studied philosophy and art history in Berlin and Paris . He was in 1877 founder of the fraternity Prenzlauer evening , the later fraternity Primislavia Berlin , which he also belonged.

He began working as an editor in the spring of 1881 for the Berliner Tageblatt . In the autumn of the same year he switched to the Breslauer Zeitung . Vollrath worked there as a political editor and as an art and theater critic. During this time he was a member of the Wroclaw City Council . Vollrath belonged to the German Liberal Party and represented it from 1890 to 1893 as a member of the Reichstag for constituency 7 ( district of Breslau / Breslau-West).

From 1892, until his death, he was editor-in-chief of the Berliner Volks-Zeitung for 23 years . Vollrath was a founding member of the German Society for Combating Venereal Diseases .

Karl Vollrath died of a stroke on October 20, 1915 at the age of 58 in Berlin . He was buried in Cemetery II of the Sophiengemeinde Berlin . The grave has not been preserved.
