Karl von Stern

Karl von Stern (born October 21, 1897 in Zurich ; missing since July 6, 1944 ) was an Austrian graphic artist and painter .

Live and act

His father was Maurice Reinhold von Stern . The family moved to St. Oswald near Freistadt in 1898 and later to Ottensheim and Linz . After attending secondary school, he enrolled at Matthias May's painting school and in 1922 became a member of the artists' association MAERZ . He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich .

After his return he became an advertising artist for the fig coffee company Franck . In 1931 he stayed in Berlin and in 1937 in Paris . Since July 1944 he has been considered missing in Russia . His brother Johann († 1960) was Vice Mayor of Ottensheim and his brother Max († 1976) was a doctor in Vienna.
