Karl von Vincenti

Karl von Vincenti (born December 21, 1764 in Mannheim , † December 22, 1812 ) was a general in the Bavarian army .

origin

Vincenti came from an Italian family. His father, Carl Jakob von Vincenti († 1800), was recognized by the Electoral Palatinate Court Chamberlain in Sulzbach on September 17, 1790. His brother Franz Xaver August von Vincenti (born August 29, 1863, † December 4, 1830) became lieutenant general in the Grand Duke of Baden.

Life

Karl was raised in the cadet corps . In 1781 he joined the Bavarian infantry and in 1792 became a captain of the 6th Regiment in Mannheim . During the fighting near Fröschweiler in Alsace (December 16 and 22, 1793), as captain of the 8th regiment, he received the military badge of honor because he held his position as part of the 1st Reich War against France ( First Coalition War ), although initially Freikorps fighting with him defected to the French enemy .

From 1803 Vincenti was in command of the 2nd light battalion. On November 1, 1805, he took command of the 9th Infantry Regiment "Wrede" from Justus Heinrich von Siebein . He received a special award during this time with the Commander's Cross of the Military Max Joseph Order (the regiment had since been renamed "9th Line Infantry Regiment Graf von Ysenburg"). On May 31, 1807 he was promoted to major general.

As part of the Russian campaign under Napoleon Bonaparte , Vincenti was involved in the defense of the village of Spas against the Russian army on August 17, 1812 near Polotsk . Vincenti was badly wounded and the French and their allies were forced to retreat. When he had almost recovered, Vincenti died on December 22, 1812.

He married Maria Anna Belval (* 1865, † February 1823). The couple had a daughter Adelheid (* October 15, 1803; † May 30, 1873), who married the later Colonel of the Artillery Carl von Reck (* February 18, 1801; † February 16, 1868).
