Karl, Duke of Mecklenburg [-Schwerin] (born March 8, 1626 in Schwerin , † August 20, 1670 in Mirow ) was canon of Strasbourg

Life

Karl came from the Schwerin line of the Mecklenburg Princely House . He was the second eldest son of Duke Adolf Friedrich I and his wife from his first marriage with Anna Maria von Ostfriesland , daughter of Count Enno III. from East Frisia .

As a baby he was brought from Mecklenburg to Sweden with his two brothers Christian and Anna Maria because of the threat of war in Mecklenburg . He was called Canon of Strasbourg in 1666. He remained unmarried and childless.

In 1648, the Mirow Commandery was secularized and transformed into a ducal Mecklenburg administrative office based in Mirow. Probably Karl, like his brother Johann Georg , was apanaged with this property because he lived in Mirow . He died here and was also buried in Mirow.
