Karmah was a pop band consisting of the Italian singer Elisa Bava and the rapper July B. (actually Juliano Bozzano ). The duo was produced by Gabry Ponte and Dom Capuano .

biography

Karmah achieved her greatest success with Just Be Good to Me . The single was produced using the bastard pop technique . It combines the melody of the SOS band hit Just Be Good to Me from 1984 with the bassline of the Police track Every Breath You Take from 1983. The rap parts came from the Italian musician, producer and singer Gianfranco Randone, better known as Jeffrey Jey (singer of Eiffel 65 / Bloom 06 ).

Originally, the song was released in 1997 as the B-side of the single Heaven , but received no significant response. A presenter of the MDR pop station Jump rediscovered the song seven years later, to which other music stations reacted and also played Just Be Good to Me . The title was then published as the A-side and eight years after it was first published it rose to the top 10 of the German and Austrian charts . Since Gianfranco Randone had no time for the Karmah project, the Dutch rapper Jay Delano was hired as a playback replacement for public appearances.

End of July 2006 appeared the second single, a cover version of Suzanne Vega -Liedes Tom's Diner , which in the version of the already 1990 Dance - Acts DNA was a hit. Here, as on all other tracks on the Be Good to Me album, the rap comes from July B.
