Bloom 06 was a duo of Italian musicians from Turin . It consisted of Gianfranco "Jeffrey Jey" Randone and Maurizio "Maury" Lobina . The group emerged from the trio Eiffel 65 , which achieved worldwide success in 1999 with Blue (Da Ba Dee) .

history

After Gabry Ponte left the band Eiffel 65 in 2005, only Jeffrey Jey and Maurizio Lobina formed the group. The separation between Gabry Ponte and his former bandmates and at the same time good friends took place according to reports from the band without any disputes. Gabry Ponte wanted to concentrate more on his successful solo career and stay true to his music style. Jeffrey Jey and Maurizio Lobina, on the other hand, tried to fundamentally change their style of music. As a result, both announced in June 2006 that they would definitely not continue the successful Eiffel 65 project. At the same time, the new band name (Bloom 06) and the fact that they will no longer work with their long-standing record company Blisscorporation were announced. Bloom 06 is a new project by the two Italians and should build on the old international successes.

On October 13, 2006 Bloom 06 released their debut album called Crash Test 01 . The song In The City was nominated as the first single, initially only available on iTunes without further remixes . As a template for In The City song served Living In My City , who on the last double album of Eiffel 65 named Eiffel 65 can be found. The album contains eight tracks and has only been released in Italy.

On December 8, 2006, In The City , which was previously only available on iTunes, was also released as a maxi CD in Italy. In addition to the radio version of In The City , the CD contains three further remixes. On December 16, 2006 Bloom announced 06 Per Semper (from Crash Test 01 ) as the next single and Crash Test 02 as the next album. In addition to the album version of Per Semper , the new single contains two further remixes and a remix of the song The Crash , which can also be found on the album Crash Test 01 . On March 9, 2007 the single was released in Italy. On May 23, 2008, the band released their second studio album called Crash Test 02 . Like Crash Test 01 , this contains songs in Italian and English. It consists of a total of ten titles, three of which are written in Italian and seven in English. On April 19, 2008, Un 'Altra Come Te was presented as the first single from the new album.

After the release of Crash Test 02 , the band focused on preparing a live tour that featured songs from their two albums as well as old Eiffel 65 songs in the Bloom 06 style. On June 22, 2008, a showcase took place in a Milan club in front of 300 spectators , where songs from both albums, but also new editions of three songs from the Eiffel 65 album Europop , were played. The two regular members were musically accompanied by Matteo Curallo . In addition, on July 5 and 6, 2008, further showcases took place in Florence and Rome .

In September Bloom 06 announced that they were working on an EP called Club Test 01 . In addition to remixes of the studio album Crash Test 02, it also contains a remake of the Eiffel 65 hit Blue (Da Ba Dee) . The single Being Not Like You (the English version of Un 'Altra Come Te ) was released on January 23, 2009 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on the JetSet Records label. In addition to the album version, mix and the Italian version, the single also includes a new version of Blue (Da Ba Dee) . The album Crash Test 02 followed on January 30th, 2009. In February Bloom 06 announced that they had recorded a duet with the Italian singer Alexia. The song We Is The Power is the English version of the Alexia song Il Branco and part of their new album. On July 3, 2009 the EP Club Test 02 was released with the two new songs Beats & Sweat and Dancing On The Moon , as well as a new Welcome To The Zoo remix and a new version of Move Your Body . In Germany appeared Beats & Sweat as a single on 11 September, 2009.

style

Musically, the style of the band has changed a lot compared to its time as Eiffel 65, as the band has partly moved from dance to pop. This happened not least because of the departure of the DJ Gabry Ponte.

Crash test 01

The debut album by Bloom 06 partly ties in with the last studio album by Eiffel 65, as some pop-like approaches could also be recognized there. In addition, new instruments such as the guitar and bass are used, which were not part of the Eiffel 65 era. The voice of the singer Jeffrey Jey now also sounds much more realistic and harmonious, as means such as distorting the voice have been deliberately avoided. In addition to the faster and more dance-heavy pieces, the album also contains some ballads, such as The Old Field Of Angels , Vorrei Essere Come Te or Don't Say These Words . In addition, in some songs it becomes clear that the band has tried to take influences from other electronic bands such as Depeche Mode and to process them in their songs. This is reflected very clearly in the piece When The Party's Over , for example . With this new album, the two Italians try to differentiate themselves from their original Eiffel 65 project and from its music in order to take a new musical direction. On their website, the band describes their debut album Crash Test 01 as their dark side. The only single In The City has already established itself musically in various European dance charts and also placed in the Italian single charts.

Crash Test 02

The second album, Crash Test 02 , brought another change in style for the band. According to information from the band, the new album, in contrast to its predecessor, contains more fast and dance-heavy songs and represents the lively and happy side of the band. Bloom 06 describe Crash Test 02 as the downside of the coin . In doing so, they show that with Crash Test 01 and Crash Test 02 they have created two different stylistic works.

Remix work

On July 24th, 2007 Bloom 06 announced on their website that they wanted to concentrate on the remix area as well as producing their own songs. The first remix they presented was Vasco Rossi's summer hit, Basta Poco . A few days later - on July 27, 2007 - a second official remix of the band was presented - Un Kilo by Zucchero .
