Silbach is a district of the town of Schleusingen in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

location

The place is at an altitude of 500 - 630 m above sea level. NN on the southern edge of the Vessertal biosphere reserve . It is a village in the Thuringian Forest on a cleared island surrounded by forest. The federal autobahn 73 and the state road 3004 pass the village not far south and open up the area for traffic.

history

The place was founded by the von Kühndorf family and was first mentioned in a document in 1251. The place belonged to the Amt Schleusingen and shared its history: until 1583 Grafschaft Henneberg - Schleusingen , 1583–1660 joint Saxon administration, 1660–1718 Albertine Principality of Saxony-Zeitz , 1718–1815 Electorate of Saxony , 1815–1945 Prussian Province of Saxony ( Schleusingen district ) , 1945–1952 State of Thuringia, 1952–1990 District Suhl , since 1990 Thuringia again.

Silbach currently has around 100 residents. There is a bell house in the village , which was formerly the domicile of the writer Joachim Knappe , as well as two village fountains .
