Schleusingerneundorf is a district of the town of Schleusingen in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

geography

Schleusingerneundorf is about seven kilometers away from Schleusingen in the Nahe valley at an altitude of about 460 meters and is surrounded by mountains about 700 meters high.

history

The place in the Nahe valley probably came into being in the late settlement period and developed around three cutting mills that already existed in the 16th century . In 1543 there were also plans to build a glassworks , about the further history of which nothing is known. In 1611 193 inhabitants were counted.

The place originally just called Neundorf (new village) belonged to the county of Henneberg and came to the Duchy of Saxony-Zeitz in 1660 and to the Electorate of Saxony in 1718 . At that time the place belonged to the Schleusingen office and, in contrast to Neundorf bei Suhl, was called Schleusingerneundorf . In 1815 the place was assigned to Prussia , whose Schleusingen district he belonged to until 1945. Charcoal burners and mills have remained on the site until the recent past, in addition to the historical cutting mills there was also a grinding mill. In 1904 a branch of the Schleusinger Glaswerk was established on site, which soon had over 100 employees, but was shut down in 1930. During the GDR times, forest and livestock farming in particular was intensified in the town. In addition, the place became in 1954 a resort with considerable tourism. On October 16, 1993 Schleusingerneundorf was incorporated into the new community of Nahetal. This formed on August 1, 1996 together with other places the unified community of Nahetal-Waldau . This was incorporated into Schleusingen on July 6, 2018.

traffic

Schleusingerneundorf has a train station on the Rennsteigbahn , one of the steepest standard-gauge railway lines in Germany, but which has not been used for regular passenger traffic since 1998. The association Dampfbahnfreunde Mittlerer Rennsteig eV carries out special trips with steam trains at irregular intervals. The closest stations that are regularly served are the Rennsteig train station (only on weekends) and the Suhl train station .

The federal road 4 runs through the village to Rennsteig and to Ilmenau in a northerly direction and to Schleusingen in a southerly direction. At Schleusingen there is a connection to the A 73 to Coburg and Nuremberg as well as Suhl and Erfurt .

Schleusingerneundorf is integrated into the WerraBus GmbH route network with two stops . On weekdays, line 809 starts and ends here via Hinternah and Schleusingen to Suhl . The place cannot be reached by bus on weekends.
