Rappelsdorf is a district of the town of Schleusingen in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia . With 288 inhabitants, the place is the second largest district of Schleusingen.

Rappelsdorf is located southwest of the town of Schleusingen and the federal highway 73 in the southern foothills of the Thuringian Forest . The lock flows through the district and the place. In terms of traffic, the town is accessed from the state roads 2633, 1625 and 1134.
history
Rappelsdorf is first mentioned in 1050; the first documentary mention followed on November 21, 1316 as Rapilstorf in the Henneberg document book. In 1544 there were seven manors in Rappelsdorf. Until 1815, the place belonged to the Henneberg or Electoral Saxon office Schleusingen and then came to the Schleusingen district of the newly formed Prussian province of Saxony , where it remained until 1945. In 1888 the place was connected to the railway network with a stop on the Schleusingen – Themar railway line .
On January 1, 1996, Rappelsdorf was incorporated into the town of Schleusingen.
Economy and education
Rappelsdorf is Schleusingen's most important agricultural location to this day: after 1990, the agricultural production cooperative "Animal Production" Rappelsdorf, which was founded in the GDR , and the state-owned estate "Plant Production" Schleusingen, based in Rappelsdorf, became private farms and the Agricultural Production GmbH Schleusingen & Co assets KG , which operates a stable in the village to this day. There is also a biogas plant in town.
There is a rehabilitation center and a special school for mentally handicapped children and young people in the village.
