Gottfriedsberg is a district of the town of Schleusingen in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

The place is at 514 m above sea level. NN and is the highest and southernmost district of Schleusingen. The village is located south of the town of Schleusingen on the northern roof of the Hildburghausen Forest, west of the Ratscher dam and the federal motorway 73 .

history

In 2013, 110 inhabitants lived in the district. Gottfriedsberg was first mentioned in a document in 1131. The development of the place was promoted by its favorable position on several trade routes.

Until 1815, the place belonged to the Henneberg or Electoral Saxon office Schleusingen and then came to the Schleusingen district of the newly formed Prussian province of Saxony , where it remained until 1945. Overall, the place is characterized by agriculture. The village life today is through the 1995 founded culture and sports association Kaktus e. V., which also organizes the annual village festival. In 1956 Gottfriedsberg came to Geisenhöhn . On April 1, 1974, the community became part of the city of Schleusingen.
