Gerlinde Hämmerle

Gerlinde Hämmerle (born June 5, 1940 in Wolfach ) is a Baden-Württemberg politician of the SPD , which she joined in 1967.

education and profession

After graduating from Fichte-Gymnasium in Karlsruhe and training at the women's technical school, Hämmerle studied at the Karlsruhe University of Education and acquired the qualification to teach at vocational schools. Then she entered the school service in Baden-Württemberg. From 1985 to 1987 she was director of studies and for a few years deputy headmaster at the Helene-Lange-Schule in Karlsruhe.

Political activity

Hämmerle has been a member of the SPD since 1967. From 1976 to 1986 she was the local association chairwoman and from 1983 to 1987 a member of the state executive committee of the SPD Baden-Württemberg , from 1985 in the presidium of the state executive committee.

From 1971 to 1987 she was a member of the municipal council of the city of Karlsruhe, from 1982 as chairwoman of the SPD parliamentary group . In 1987 she was elected to the German Bundestag via the Baden-Württemberg state list . In 1988 she became a member of the SPD parliamentary group executive and from 1991 parliamentary manager . From 1991 to 1992 she was one of 31 members of the Independent Federalism Commission set up by the Bundestag . After leaving the Bundestag she was from August 1, 1994 to June 5, 2005 Government President of the administrative district of Karlsruhe , even after replacement of the grand coalition with the CDU-FDP coalition in 1996 .

She has been chairwoman of the Friends of the Badisches Landesmuseum for over 20 years .

honors and awards

Gerlinde Hämmerle is the recipient of the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg (2005), the Home Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Medal of Honor of the City of Karlsruhe (2006). In July 2010 she was made an honorary citizen of the city of Karlsruhe.

Memberships

Gerlinde Hämmerle was Deputy Federal Chairwoman of the AWO and a member of the district board of AWO Baden.

She was a member of the ZDF television council and the central family council of the German Catholic Family Association and she is a member of the Education and Science Union (GEW) and the Friends of Nature.
