Karmakanic is a Swedish progressive rock / jazz rock band.
Band history
Jonas Reingold composed the first songs for Karmakanic in 2000 and teamed up with his Flower Kings colleagues Tomas Bodin , Zoltan Csörsz and Roine Stolt as well as singer Göran Edman to record the debut album Entering the Spectra in 2001 , which was released in 2002.
style
As a retro prog band, Karmakanic ties in with the classic progressive rock of the 1970s. Their special focus is symphonic rock with jazz - and sometimes fusion influences . Characteristic for the sound of the band are concept albums , typical prog keyboard sounds, epic compositions and the frequent use of meditative passages in the compositions. Karmakanic were often compared to the Flower Kings, especially on the first two albums.
Band members
Jonas Reingold is the head of the band and is responsible for most of the lyrics and compositions. It is astonishing that the singer Göran Edman was known more in connection with melodic rock ( Yngwie Malmsteen , Kharma ) and less in the progressive rock scene until the founding of Karmakanic .
