Karmi Gilon

Karmi Gilon ( Hebrew כרמי גילון, alternate transcription Carmi Gillon; * January 1950 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli diplomat. From 2001 to 2003 he was the Israeli ambassador to Denmark .

He holds a BA in Political Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem .

Gilon represented Ja'akov Peri for four months in 1994 as head of the Israeli domestic secret service Shin Bet (also called Shabak ), and from 1995 to the beginning of 1996 he was head of the Shin Bet. He gave up his office after Yitzchak Rabin was murdered.

Gilon was one of six former leaders of the Shin Bet in 2012 who were interviewed about their respective activities in a documentary by Israeli film director Dror Moreh . The film Kill First (English: The Gatekeepers ) was released in Israeli cinemas in early 2013 and was broadcast in early March 2013 on both the French-German TV channel arte and on ARD .
