Karoline "Karo" Schaum (born October 12, 1980 in Friedberg (Hessen) ) is a German singer-songwriter .

biography

Schaum began to teach himself to play the guitar as a child. In elementary school she also played the recorder and saxophone. From 1991 to 2001 she attended the Augustinerschule Friedberg , after which she first went to London and then in 2004 to Schweinfurt to study German in nearby Würzburg . She later moved directly to Würzburg. On the advice of a friend, she published her songs on MySpace in late 2006 . Within a few months, many fans had accumulated on their site and several organizers became aware of Karo.

In spring 2008 she started recording her first album in her own living room and basement, which was released in January 2009 under the title Sing Out, Heart! appeared on the Luxembourg label Lili is Pi. She received the record contract for her self-made CD at a concert in France. The Bayern2 Zündfunk jury chose Karo as the “Band of the Week” and she appeared in the first season on3 - launch pad . In April 2009 she received prize money of 1000 euros at the “Prize for Young Culture” from the Umsonst & Draußen association .

Diamonds & Jets vs. Sharks

Daniel Gehret, bassist in the Würzburg punk band "Shokei", also became aware of Karo. Together with his band colleague and drummer Matthias Labus, the two have been accompanying Karo since then under the name “Karo & Jets vs. Sharks ”at their concerts and recorded the album Home , which was released at the end of February 2013 , together in the former vault of the Posthalle Würzburg .
