Karola Theill

Karola Theill (* in Cologne ) is a German pianist and song accompanist .

Born in Cologne, she grew up in a musical family. Her father, Gustav Adolf Theill, was a sideline musicologist . She studied at the Academy of Music and Theater Hamburg , at Shoshana Cohen in Jerusalem, at the University of the Arts in Berlin and at the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington , USA . She attended lieder courses with Aribert Reimann and was invited for several years to accompany Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau to lied.

Karola Theill gives concerts in Germany, a. a. at the Berliner Festwochen , the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , the Wiesbaden International May Festival , the Moselfestwochen, the Kasseler Musiktage, as well as in other European countries (including Musikverein Wien, Opéra de Bastille, Paris), in Israel and the USA. Her song partners include Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau , Benjamin Bruns , Angela Denoke , Matthias Goerne , Bettina Jensen, Carola Höhn , Klaus Häger, Thomas Mohr , Silvia Weiss . She is also a member of the Ensemble Liedtrio .

Karola Theill teaches as an honorary professor at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin and supervises a song class at the Rostock University of Music and Theater . In addition, she regularly gives master classes in Berlin, Hamburg, at the Akademii Muzycznej in Poznań, the Conservatorio di Musica in Alessandria, the Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem and the University of California, USA. Radio recordings and CD productions document their activities.
