Karoline Beck-Krämer

Karoline Beck-Krämer (* 1941 in Frankfurt am Main ; † October 26, 2015 there ) was a German municipal civil servant and managing director of the Pestalozzi Foundation .>

Career

Karoline Krämer was born in Frankfurt am Main. She was the niece of city councilor Edwin Höcher (SPD), who was in office from 1954 to 1960. Her first marriage to the director of the Frankfurt Federal Garden Show in 1989 in the Nidda-Auen, the civil engineer and municipal employee Fritz Krämer (1926–2008), remained childless. After marrying the art historian Herbert Beck , director of the Liebieghaus and the Städelsche Kunstinstitut , she took on the double name.

After completing her school education, she entered the service of the city of Frankfurt am Main in the early 1960s. In the 1970s she was part of the team headed by the then head of the cultural department, Hilmar Hoffmann (SPD). In 1981, the then Lord Mayor Walter Wallmann (CDU) appointed her as chief magistrate director to head of protocol for the city in Frankfurt City Hall , a position she held for 26 years. She was co-author of the standard work Representation in the City Hall of the German Association of Cities, first published in 2001 .

Since the mid-1970s, she was managing director of the Pestalozzi Foundation in Frankfurt, which awards grants to students and trainees, for around four decades. From 1989 to 2012 she worked for the Federal Association of German Foundations as an advisory and board member. In 1993 she co-founded the Frankfurt Foundations Initiative . From 2007 she was chairwoman of the Kuratorium Kulturelles Frankfurt . She worked for the city's Jewish community as a member of the Frankfurt group of the Women's International Zionist Organization (WIZO).

Because of her serious illness, Karoline Beck-Krämer has not performed her duties since Christmas 2011. She was buried in the Frankfurt main cemetery.
