The Karolinenplatz is a public place in Darmstadt .
location
Karolinenplatz is located north of Zeughausstraße ( Bundesstraße B 26 ) or Alexanderstraße ( Landesstraße L 3094 ) in Darmstadt's city center. To the northwest it is delimited by the Hessian State Archives and the State Museum as well as by the Herrngarten . To the east of the square there is a hotel and several TU Darmstadt buildings .
Events
Many public events take place on Karolinenplatz. For example, there is a marquee and a fairground ride on the site during the Heinerfest . During the castle moat festival, the main stage is on the square.
On August 12, 1948, there was a large protest rally with more than 10,000 participants on the square, which was directed against the arbitrary price increases after the currency reform.
The relegation game of SV Darmstadt 98 on May 19, 2014 was broadcast on the field by public viewing . The big "promotion celebration" took place there the following day.
Promotion to the Bundesliga 2015/16 was also celebrated.
In 2019, Christopher Street Day will be moved from Riegerplatz to Karolinenplatz.
