Statue of Karomama in the Louvre |
Karomama Meritmut I. (nickname: Sitamun Mutemhat ) was an ancient Egyptian high priestess of the 22nd Dynasty . She bore the title of a consort of Amun .
Karomama Meritmut I. is best known for a precious bronze statue which the treasurer Ahentefnachte had made for her and which is now in the Louvre in Paris. A votive statue of the goddess Maat from Karnak dedicated to her also comes from Ahentefnachte. Other objects with her name include a stele and a (usurped) private statue that bears its relief image, canopic jugs and ushabti , which are located in Berlin.
Karomama Meritmut is possibly identical to a Karomama, daughter of Osorkon II , who is depicted in the Pharaoh's sed hall . A representation of Meritmut himself can be found in the chapel of Osiris- Nebanch ("Osiris, Lord of Life") in Karnak. Her predecessor in the office of Consort of God was the high priestess Henuttaui from the 21st Dynasty , followed by Schepenupet I.
Her grave was found in December 2014 in the Ramesseum , where an important cemetery had developed in the Third Intermediate Period.
