Karsten Schul

Karsten Eckhard Schul (born May 29, 1967 in Siegen ) is a German basketball trainer , former player and current university lecturer.

career

School played in the late 1980s for the Godesberger TV in the 2nd Basketball League , and later for the USC Freiburg also the second highest German league and from 1994 to 1996 then for the Post-SV Telekom Bonn or its successor club Telekom Baskets Bonn , with which he made promotion to the Bundesliga. In the 1996/97 season, the two-meter-long inside player was part of the Bundesliga team Bayer Leverkusen .

He then worked as an assistant coach in Leverkusen, and in the 2000/01 game year as Dirk Bauermann's assistant coach for Bundesliga club Brandt Hagen . From 2001 he held the post of co-trainer at Telekom Baskets Bonn and from 2008 also the position of sporting director of the youth department of Telekom Baskets Bonn eV

Schul left Bonn in 2009 and has since worked at the German Sport University in Cologne as a lecturer at the Institute for Cognitive and Sport Game Research and as a department head and module representative in the basketball teaching research area. Between 1988 and 2008 he also completed a sports degree in Cologne with a focus on "Training and Performance". In 2015 he presented his dissertation on the subject of “Different dimensions of general and specific cognitive skills in basketball”.

In addition to his duties at the sports university, he remained active as a basketball coach, worked as an assistant coach for the Luxembourg national team from 2009 to 2013 and was then head coach of the selection from June to October 2013. He was accepted into the teaching and coaching committee of the German Basketball Federation .
