View from a distance

The old Geniekaserne von Brugg is a massive, three-story plastered building in the late classical style. The elevated, three-axle central wing protrudes strongly at the rear as a staircase risalit . It has a flat roof and a representative design on the façade due to the attic floor with three axes, three-part arched windows and high parapets . The four-axle wing structures attached to the side had hipped roofs that were formerly covered with porticoes , which had to give way to the roof extension of the 1950s. The risalit and side wings are framed by wide, rusticated corner cuboids, which are also carved in granite , like the rusticated cuboids of the building base. The upper floors are separated from the ground floor by a strong shell limestone cornice. Cement cast walls were chosen for the window frames, with the exception of the middle section of the show facade, where defensive-looking granite was used.

Interior of the building

Access is via the staircase risalit and lengthways rear corridors. In the basement with houris ceilings, the room program includes the kitchen, food stores, showers, drying and heating rooms and holding cells. The dining rooms for the crew and NCOs as well as offices and theory rooms are located on the ground floor. There are dormitories of various sizes on the first and second floors. Toilet facilities flank the stairwell. The upstream extension with washrooms is more recent (1959).
