The Kaschinka ( Russian Ка́шинка ) is a 128 km long left tributary of the Volga in the European part of Russia .

description

It rises not far from the villages of Liskowo and Mjakolowo , about 15 km west of the district administrative seat of Kessowa Gora in the north-eastern Tver Oblast . At first it flows mainly in an easterly direction through the wooded landscape. After passing Kessowa Gora, she turns south.

Shortly afterwards she reached Kashin , one of the oldest villages in Tver Oblast. Shortly after it has flowed through the city, the backwater of the Uglich reservoir begins , to which the Volga is dammed and which also shapes the course of the Kaschinka. The river is up to 400 m wide at its lower reaches.

At Verkhneje Uste the Kaschinka finally flows into the Volga.

The river is frozen on average from November to April and the lowest 25 km is navigable during the ice-free period.
