Kaspar Ernst von Knoch

Kaspar Ernst von Knoch (born March 7, 1582 at Gut Bleckendorf near Wanzleben ; † December 30, 1641 ibid) was an official in the principalities of Anhalt-Bernburg and Anhalt-Dessau and a member of the Fruit-Bringing Society .

Life

Kaspar Ernst von Knoch the son of Kaspar von Knoch and his wife Barbara von Holläufer. After the death of his parents, he was orphaned in the family of Bernburg Chamber Councilor Kurt von Börstel . At fifteen he was accepted as a page at the court of Prince Christian I of Anhalt-Bernburg . From there he went to the University of Helmstedt in April 1601 . A few years later he was recruited and fought in the Dutch War until 1606.

After a short stay at the court of Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt-Köthen , he entered the service of Anhalt-Bernburg. Here he served from 1606 to 1632 as governor of Harzgerode and Güntersberge .

As such, Knoch married Magdalena von Börstel, a daughter of Kurt von Börstel, on October 31, 1606 at Köthen Castle . With her he had two sons, Hans Ludwig von Knoch and Christian Ernst von Knoch . Like their father, both later became members of the Fruitful Society. Knoch's first wife Magdalena died on March 24, 1619. On July 22, 1627 Knoch married Elisabeth von Gerstädt for the second time.

Between 1632 and 1636 Knoch administered the founders Magdeburg and Halberstadt in the name of the Swedish governor Prince Ludwig I von Anhalt-Köthen . In 1639 he was appointed court marshal at the Anhalt-Dessau court as a secret councilor . As such, he held the post of governor in Sandersleben and Freckleben .

Fruitful society

In 1620, Knoch was accepted into the Fruit Bringing Society by Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt-Köthen . He gave this the name of the society of the spreading and the motto in working bloom . A linden tree was given to him as an emblem. Knoch's law of rhyme, with which he thanks for the admission, reads:

My beginning, middle, and end
Everything is in God's hands.
I am genuinely devoted to it
In death and also in life.

It is recorded in the Koethen company register under number 33.
