Kasper Holten

Kasper Bech Holten (born March 29, 1973 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish opera director .

Life

From 2003 to 2006 he was the director of the Danish post-war premiere of Richard Wagner's Ring des Nibelungen , which was performed for the first time since EA at the Royal Theater in 1912. The production was - from Siegfried onwards - the first for the new opera house , which opened its doors in 2005. Holten was also director of the Aarhus Summer Opera and is a member of the National Music Council. In 2006 he was appointed Associate Professor at Copenhagen Business School . As an opera and theater director, he has won several awards, most recently in 2006 for the Ring des Nibelungen . Holten has staged more than fifty operas, plays and musicals at houses in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Austria, France, Russia, the USA, Iceland and Latvia.

His debut film Juan is a modern English-language cinema version of Mozart's opera Don Giovanni . The cinema premieres in German and Danish cinemas in 2010 and 2011 were successful.

From 2000 to 2011 Holten was Opera Director at the Royal Danish Theater in Copenhagen . From 2011 to 2017 he was artistic director of the Covent Garden Opera in London . Holten is also Vice President of the European Music Theater Academy . In 2018 he took over the overall management of the Royal Danish Theater as CEO .

Private

From 2002 to 2007 Holten was married to the actress, singer and television presenter Kamilla Bech Holten (1972-2008). He has been in a relationship with the choreographer Signe Fabricius since summer 2007.
