Headquarters of the KZV Hessen in Frankfurt am Main

The Kassenzahnärztliche Vereinigung Hessen (KZVH) was founded on April 1, 1954 as a corporation under public law (Germany) (Kdö.R.). With around 4,700 dentists as members, the KZV Hessen ensures dental care in Hessen. It thus fulfills the task assigned to it by the legislature in Section 75 of Book V of the Social Security Code (SGB V) to ensure adequate, appropriate and economical dental care. At the same time, she represents the rights of contract dentists vis-à-vis the health insurance companies .

The KZV Hessen is one of 17 state KZVs that are members of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (KZBV).

Members

Members of the KZV Hessen are licensed contract dentists with full or partial license as well as employed dentists in dental practices and in facilities approved for contract dental care. The members are entitled and obliged to take part in contract dental care. The KZV Hessen has around 4,700 members (as of December 2018).

The KZVH is subject to legal supervision by the Hessian Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration .

The bodies of the KZV Hessen are the representative assembly and the board of directors. There are also various committees and bodies that perform partial tasks on behalf of the Executive Board.

Representative Assembly

The most important areas of responsibility of the representative assembly are:

  • the creation and amendment of the statutes , election regulations and rules of procedure
  • to determine the budget
  • to decide on the discharge of the board with regard to the annual accounts
  • Make decisions that are of fundamental importance to the corporation
  • the representation of the corporation vis-à-vis the board of directors and its members
  • the election and supervision of the board of the KZV Hessen
  • the election of the chairman of the representative assembly and a deputy

Board

The most important areas of responsibility of the board are:

  • Judicial and extrajudicial representation of the KZV Hessen
  • Conclusion, modification and termination of contracts with the cost bearers (health insurance companies, etc.)
  • Protects the interests of the KZV Hessen and its members
  • Formation and composition of the committees prescribed by law, contract and statutes
  • Supervision of the duties incumbent on the members of the KZV Hessen according to law, contract and statutes

In 2018, the KZV Hessen processed more than 8 million cases in the areas of conservative-surgical, orthodontic and periodontal services, as well as dentures and jaw fractures .

39 district offices support the KZV Hessen with planning and logistic for the organization of the emergency replacement service.
