Konstantinos Mitsotaki's cabinet
The Konstantinos Mitsotakis cabinet was formed on April 11, 1990 in Greece by Konstantinos Mitsotakis and replaced Xenophon Zolota's cabinet . The cabinet existed until October 13, 1993, when it was replaced by the third Papandreou cabinet .
The parliamentary election of April 8, 1990 prepared by Zolota's interim government meant that Konstantinos Mitsotakis’s Nea Dimokratia (ND) received 46.9 percent of the vote and 150 seats, narrowly missing out on an absolute majority in the 300- seat parliament . On the Panellinio Sosialistiko Kinima (PASOK) under the leadership of Andreas Papandreou 38.6 percent and 123 seats. Thanks to the support of Theodoros Katsikis, the only member of the DIANA Democratic Renewal ( Δημοκρατική Ανανέωση ), Mitsotakis managed to form a government.
In the parliamentary election of October 10, 1993 , however, the ND suffered considerable losses of 7.59 percentage points and, with 39.3 percent of the vote, only had 111 members. PASOK, on the other hand, was able to increase its share of the vote by 8.27 percentage points to 46.88 percent, and because of the increased proportional representation , it moved into parliament with 170 seats. Papandreou then formed his third cabinet.
