Konstantinos Simitis (2003)

The Konstantinos Simitis II cabinet was formed on September 25, 1996 in Greece by Konstantinos Simitis and replaced the first Simitis cabinet . The cabinet existed until April 13, 2000, when it was replaced by the third Simitis cabinet .

In the previous parliamentary election of September 22, 1996 , the ruling Panellinio Sosialistiko Kinima (PASOK) lost 5.39 percentage points compared to the parliamentary election of October 10, 1993 and only got 41.49 percent (1993: 46.88 percent) but due to the current proportional representation with 162 seats (1993: 170 seats) still an absolute majority. However, the opposition Nea Dimokratia (ND), led by Miltiadis Evert , also suffered slight losses of 1.18 percentage points, gaining 38.12 percent and 108 seats in parliament .
