Cabinet Andreas Papandreou I

The cabinet of Andreas Papandreou I was formed on October 21, 1981 in Greece by Andreas Papandreou and replaced the cabinet of Georgios Rallis . The cabinet existed until June 5, 1985, when it was replaced by the second Papandreou cabinet .

In the parliamentary elections on October 18, 1981 , the ruling Nea Dimokratia (ND) von Rallis suffered a defeat and only received 35.9 percent of the vote and 115 of the 300 seats in parliament . The election winner was the social democratic Panellinio Sosialistiko Kinima (PASOK) Papandreous, which accounted for 48.1 percent and was able to improve the number of its MPs by 79 seats to 172 seats.
