The apartment building Kastanienallee 77 is a residential building and a monument in the Kastanienallee in the Prenzlauer Berg district of the Berlin district of Pankow .
history
The tenement house was built around 1852/1853. In 1889 there were minor renovations, whereby the facade remained unchanged. In 1893 and 1894 there were major renovations in connection with the construction of the courtyard buildings. The passage on the right axis was enlarged, the stairwell redesigned and the Berlin room built. The rich decorations, such as small rosettes under the straight, profiled window roofing and curved keystones , also date from this period . Two handicraft sculptures are attached to the facade. Above the ground floor are two floors, the windows of which are framed with bezels and which are crowned with a straight, profiled roof. The consoles under the eaves close off the facade to the gable roof. Inside the house, the ceilings are richly structured and the stairs have a neo-baroque entry post. The rolled iron girders have remained from the housing construction of the 19th century. The iron staircase and the design of the staircase probably date from the time of the renovation in 1893.
After a long period of vacancy, the entire house has been extensively renovated since the early 1990s. The former room setting was retained and partially reconstructed; The stucco ceilings in the living rooms, the sculptures and the cast iron stairs have also been restored. The color scheme of the front facade, the passage and the stairwell followed the design from 1893. On June 20, 1992 there was a squatting in this apartment building , which was legalized again a little later.
The Lichtblick-Kino has been in the building since 1994 , with 32 seats one of the smallest cinemas in Berlin.
