Katarina Karnéus (born November 26, 1965 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Karnéus completed her musical training at Trinity College of Music in London and at the National Opera Studio . Since then she has mainly been active as a concert and opera singer. In her extensive international work, she has performed at the Welsh National Opera , the English National Opera , the Opéra Comique , the Opéra Bastille in Paris , the Chicago Lyric Opera , the Glyndebourne Festival, the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and the Metropolitan Opera New York, at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden , London, and at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich .

Her repertoire includes the following roles: Dorabella ( Così fan tutte ), Sesto ( Giulio Cesare in Egitto ), Cherubino ( Le nozze di Figaro ), Rosina ( Il barbiere di Siviglia ), Angelina ( La Cenerentola ), Octavian ( Der Rosenkavalier ), Marguerite ( La damnation de Faust ), Annio and Sesto ( La clemenza di Tito ), Geschwitz ( Lulu ).
