Raibu Katayama ( Japanese 片 山 來 夢 , Katayama Raibu ; born May 4, 1995 in Yaizu ) is a Japanese snowboarder . He starts in the halfpipe discipline.

Career

Katayama has been participating in the TTR World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2011 . In February 2011 he won his first victory at the NSBA Snowboarding Championships in Gujo . In January 2013, he came in second on the US Revolution Tour in Northstar-at-Tahoe . In 2014 and 2016 he became the Japanese champion in the halfpipe discipline. In the same year he won the NSBA Snowboarding Championships in Meiho in halfpipe and slopestyle competition and came second at the JSBA Snowboarding Championships in Nango . He made his World Cup debut in December 2014 in Copper Mountain , which he finished in 23rd place. At the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg , he took 16th place. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season , he won his first World Cup victory in Cardrona . In the further course of the season he finished 18th at the Laax Open in Laax and tenth place at the Burton US Open . In February 2016 he finished third at the World Cup in Sapporo and at the end of the season he finished seventh in the Freestyle World Cup and second in the Halfpipe World Cup. In the 2017/18 season he achieved three top ten placements in four World Cup starts, including second place in the Secret Garden Resort , seventh place in the Freestyle World Cup and third place in the Halfpipe World Cup. He also took second place at the Burton US Open. The Winter X Games 2018 in Aspen , he finished sixth and at the Winter Olympics in 2018 in Pyeongchang seventh.

The following season Katayama came at the Winter X-Games in 2019 to ninth place and at the Snowboard World Championships 2019 in Park City to 12th place. In early March 2019, he finished second at the Burton US Open in Vail .
