Catechism of the New Apostolic Church

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Catechism of the New Apostolic Church is the first comprehensive basic work on the faith and teaching of the New Apostolic Church (see also Catechism ). It has been available throughout Germany since December 2012, and later worldwide as well as online.

History of origin

In 2002 the church leadership of the New Apostolic Church International decided at a District Apostle meeting in Halle (Saale) to also create a comprehensive basic work on the New Apostolic doctrine of the faith. This catechism was to finally replace the textbook Questions and Answers on the New Apostolic Faith , which was last updated in 1995 .

On March 6, 2003, the then incumbent Chief Apostle Richard Fehr transferred this task to the project group “The New Apostolic Faith”. Initially it was assumed that the catechism would be ready by 2008. In parallel with the preparation of the content of the catechism, a revision of the New Apostolic Creed was also initiated.

On December 4, 2012 Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber , Fehr's successor in office, presented the textbook to church members in Europe in an information evening on the catechism. This information evening was broadcast by satellite from the NACI church administration in Zurich to the congregations in Europe. A presentation to representatives of the other churches and the media took place on separate days on January 10, 2013 in Zurich and on January 14, 2013 in Frankfurt am Main .

However, work on the catechism is not yet fully completed. On September 1, 2015, the "Questions and Answers" version of the NAK Catechism was published.
