Katekavia flight 9357 was a flight from Krasnoyarsk to Igarka on which an Antonov An-24 crashed on August 3, 2010 , killing twelve people.

Course of the accident

The aircraft had an accident while approaching Igarka airport, where it collided with trees 477 meters in front of the runway 12 and 234 meters to the right of the approach baseline. The weather was stormy - rainy and cloudy, which reduced visibility when the accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. local time. The collision and a subsequent fire killed all passengers and one crew member, only the cockpit crew survived.

Investigation and cause

Shortly after the accident, the two flight recorders were searched for. Both were found. The voice recorder had records for the first 80 minutes of the flight, the flight recorder had records for the last 90 minutes.

The investigations revealed that the accident happened because the copilot sank below the minimum flight altitude without visual contact with the runway . The investigators also criticized that the accident could have been avoided if the recommendations had been implemented after the UTair flight 471 accident . 19 safety recommendations were made.

In January 2013, the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court opened an investigation into the crashed air plane. Pilot Nikolai Kozlov, who survived the accident, was found guilty in October of the same year and sentenced to 4.5 years in prison.
