On November 7, 1628, Katharina Elisabeth married Count Wilhelm Otto von Isenburg-Birstein (* November 6/17, 1597 - April 19, 1667), a marriage that was supposed to support her father's policy because he tried to oppose each other to depose the ruling main line Hanau-Münzenberg , and sought an alliance with the neighboring Counts of Isenburg, who competed with Hanau. The marriage remained childless.
