Katharina Jacquet
Katharina Jacquet ( March 1, 1760 in Graz or Vienna - January 31, 1786 in Vienna) was an Austrian theater actress .
Life
The daughter of the actor Karl J. Jacquet entered the stage of the National Theater in Vienna at the age of ten . In 1779 she established her reputation as "Elwine" in the tragedy Percy . Soon she played in the higher tragedy, but also in the fine comedy.
Although she had a somewhat weak voice, she was supported by a slim stature, a noble propriety, an excellent expression and an incomparable talent for representation. She passed away at the age of only 26. Her death was widely mourned; Numerous poems and pamphlets announced to the audience the loss that the German stage had suffered. Under the portrait painted by Joseph Hickel on the orders of Emperor Joseph in the artist gallery of the National Theater, which depicts her in the role of Ariadne on Naxos , the emperor wrote with his own hand: "She died generally regretted".
