Kathleen Hughes (actually Elizabeth Margaret von Gerkan ; born November 14, 1928 in Hollywood , Los Angeles ) is an American actress .
Life
Kathleen Hughes was born Elizabeth Margaret von Gerkan in Hollywood in 1928 . Her uncle was the screenwriter F. Hugh Herbert (1897-1958), her cousin the actress Diana Herbert (* 1928). In 1948 Hughes was discovered at a small local theater. She signed a seven-year contract with 20th Century Fox , but initially played only minor supporting roles in films like Faustrecht der Großstadt . One of Hughes' first significant roles was that of Tracy Norman in the 1952 crime film Cruel Judges . In total she made fourteen films for Fox during her career.
During her time at 20th Century Fox, Hughes also made five films for Universal Studios , including the 1953 science fiction film Danger from Outer Space .
Their subsequent career limited predominantly to roles in television series, including guest appearances in 77 Sunset Strip , Jeannie or M * A * S * H . From 1968 to 1969 Hughes starred as Mrs. Coburn in three episodes of The Spirit and Mrs. Muir . In 1998 she officially ended her acting career with a small role in the film Welcome to Hollywood , but in 2018 she starred as Mathilda in the short film Swamp Women Kissing Booth . Kathleen Hughes' entire filmography includes more than sixty appearances in films and television series.
Kathleen Hughes was married to the film producer Stanley Rubin for almost sixty years from July 25, 1954 until his death on March 2, 2014 . The couple have four children together.
