Kathleen Monahan (born November 9, 1972 in Aspen , Colorado ) is a former American ski racer . She is a two-time American champion.

Monahan grew up in Aspen and started skiing at the age of four. She competed in her first race when she was eight.

She made her debut in the World Cup in 1992. Nevertheless, she celebrated her first successes in the North American Nor-Am Cup . In 1995 she became the overall winner of this racing series and also secured victory in the giant slalom classification. After this success, she took part regularly in the Ski World Cup from the 1995/96 season . In the course of her career, she was placed in the top ten twice. The greatest success was a third place in the Super-G of St. Moritz in March 1999. In the same year she was also champion in the US championships in the combined and in the super-G. At the end of the season she tore the cartilage in her right knee while training in Zermatt , which forced her to take a two-year break.

Her comeback in the 2001/02 Olympic season began muted. Only slowly did she get back to the top twenty. It was not until the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City that a good placement was achieved again with rank 11 in the Super-G.

After Monahan had contested her last World Cup race in December 2002, she finally retired from ski racing in 2004.
