Kathleen Russell (athlete)

Kathleen Russell ( Kathleen May Russell; born August 31, 1927 , † August 27, 1969 ) was a Jamaican long jumper , high jumper , sprinter and hurdler .

In 1946 she won bronze over the 80 m hurdles at the Central America and Caribbean Games .

At the Olympic Games in 1948 she was sixth in the long jump . Over 100 m she reached the semi-finals, and over 200 m she was eliminated in the preliminary run. In 1950 she won bronze over the 80 m hurdles again at the Central America and Caribbean Games.

At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952, she failed in the long jump in qualification. In 1954 she won the Central American and Caribbean Games in the high jump and won silver over the 80 m hurdles.

Her personal best in the long jump of 6.02 m she set on May 30, 1952 in Kingston .
