The Catholic Peace Foundation supports the Institute for Theology and Peace (ithf) in Hamburg , which has been researching the ethical foundations of peace for over 30 years and contributing to the current political and church debate. The aim is the conception of a new peace order in which the strength of the law replaces the law of the stronger. The motto of the foundation is: "Peace begins in the head".

The Foundation

The foundation is a trust foundation under civil law under the umbrella foundation Catholic Soldier Pastoral Care . Your starting capital is 800,000 euros. It was built in 2010. The office is located in the building of the Catholic Academy in Hamburg, there again in the premises of the ithf. The Catholic Peace Foundation aligns its work as a member of the Federal Association of German Foundations to its “principles of good foundation practice” and the “principles of good church foundation practice”.

Areas of activity

It is a support foundation that is not operational itself. The purpose of the foundation is to support the Institute for Theology and Peace, the only Catholic “ think tank ” in Europe on peace ethics.
