Kathrin Senger-Schäfer (born March 21, 1962 in Bonn ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and was a member of the German Bundestag from 2009 to 2013 .

Life

After completing high school in Kirchheimbolanden , she completed a degree in German and political science in Mannheim and Waterloo (Canada) . Subsequently, from 1985 onwards she worked as a lecturer in the field of adult education. She has been a volunteer film examiner since the early 1990s .

Senger-Schäfer is married and has two children.

Politics and party

Politically, she was initially involved in the peace movement and contributed to the emergence of the Democratic Socialists (DS).

She joined the electoral alternative work and social justice founded in 2004 and, after its merger with the PDS, became involved in the district association of the party Die Linke in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , focusing on education policy . From autumn 2008 to 2010 Senger-Schäfer was state chairman of the party Die Linke in Rhineland-Palatinate . In 2015 she left the Rhineland-Palatinate regional association of her party and moved to LINKEN in Thuringia.

MPs

For the Bundestag election on September 27, 2009 , she successfully ran for second place on the left-wing state list there for the German Bundestag . Senger-Schäfer is a full member of the committees for health as well as for culture and media. She is the media and care policy spokeswoman for her group. She ran for the 2013 federal election as a direct candidate for the Mainz constituency .
